{30-DC} Day 8: Short-term goals for this month, and why.

I tend to try to keep my goals pretty simple. I get overwhelmed when I focus on more than two. I would say my (two) short-term goals this month are:

1: To make sure I remember my mom's birthday and Ciera's birthday and get them SOMEthing for the occasion.

2: To stick to my self-imposed (and self-made) Rule of 4x10. While the kids are awake, I am only allowed to be on the computer for 10 minutes at a time, up to 4 times before 5:00. Between each 10-minute-sit, I require myself to engage in at least 20 minutes of non-computer productive activity. This ensures that I get dinner going at an appropriate time and also ensures that my children see more than just the back of my head all day! I tend to get sucked into whatever I'm doing and just....sit....and sit....and before I know it, I've wasted a day. After the kids are in bed, I allow myself whatever computer time I want or need, but usually by that time, I'm just wanting to sit on the couch next to Phill if I don't have any editing to do. I don't always stick to this rule, but when I do, I notice a HUGE difference. Which is why it's a goal of mine to be more consistent with it.

Great idea! I have a class I'm working on, but when I'm done with it, or when I'm not working on Homework, I'm gonna try that rule! LIKE!!! Thanks, that is a huge problem of mine!

Good idea! :) Whenever I do let myself take too long on the computer, it makes a big difference... :\ I like your 4x10 rule!

I've been doing this off and on since you started it. I need to ALWAYS do this... :D

And I remember we talked about "No-Go" Zones or something. Where you just NEVER are on the computer because you need to be productive and stay on track. Like school hours for the girls for me (since we're here at home schooling).

I should really try that #2 goal.
